About Dr. KareemAYODEJI, Ed.D, LCSW
Dr. Kareem Ayodeji built Revelation Sports Counseling on a straightforward idea: athletes deserve mental health support from someone who actually understands what it means to be an athlete. He is that person.
— Background
A LICENSED CLINICIAN. A LIFELONG ATHLETE.
Dr. Ayodeji has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2012. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work from the University of Connecticut, and a Doctorate from the University of Hartford.
He is also a former walk-on at UConn's basketball program. Over the years, he has taught and coached tennis, soccer, basketball, and football. He currently works with schools and colleges throughout the state of Connecticut.
What that combination means in practice: Dr. Ayodeji can sit across from a high school basketball player who just went 2-for-12 and talk to them in the language of sport, not just the language of therapy.

— APPROACH
HOW Dr. Ayodeji WORKS
Dr. Ayodeji does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. For athletes who have never been to therapy, he often starts on the court or in a space that feels more natural than an office. That is especially true for athletes dealing with performance anxiety or navigating a longer slump tied to depression.
For virtual clients, he might start by reviewing game film together. For younger athletes, he uses play therapy techniques that naturally open up conversation without making the athlete feel like they are in a clinical setting.
The clinical expertise is always there when it is needed. The goal is to meet athletes where they are, then build from there.
